Vesta Gabrielle Williams - Shiatsu and Therapeutic Massage

What Is a SHIATSU Session?

I perform a traditional style shiatsu working on a massage table. You remain fully clothed, preferably in clean, non-bulky, loose-fitting pants and top, with jewelry, belts and shoes removed. It is best to refrain from drinking alcohol or eating heavily for at least 1 to 1 ½ hours before the session.

You will derive the most benefit if all past and future concerns are put aside for the duration of the session, allowing full awareness of the present moment. That consciousness can be felt on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. If necessary, I will support you by referring you to other health professionals specially trained to help in working with those 3 levels of awareness. Shiatsu is a non-sexual form of massage; personal boundaries are always respected. With this understood, you have the right to ask me to avoid any techniques or areas of your body that make you feel uncomfortable.

You might choose this style of bodywork to address more chronic, persistent issues such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome or difficulty in stress management. The effects of your session are not always felt immediately; they can sometimes be felt 2 or more days afterwards. The reward for your patience is a deeper, longer-lasting form of therapy that may change your entire approach to health!
